Classic print production techniques are rekindled, giving contrast from a digital society

Kirin Cider commissioned one of the world’s leading modern letterpress practices, The Distillery, to create a range of bespoke branded coasters.

Based in Darlinghurst, Sydney, The Distillery is a modern outfit, driven by old-fashioned quality and
run by a team who have turned their personal passions for design and craft into a simple mission – to help spread the love of letterpress in Australia.

Designer and printer Ben Toupein speaks on the heritage of his craft and the resurgence letterpress is having in the modern age. He takes us through the simple yet intricate process and explains how each machine has its own temperament.

“It’s really great to be part of something that is bringing back old crafts and handmade techniques. It’s nice to be part of an environment where we create things and actually get our hands dirty” – Ben
